We will upgrade various fiber optic lines between our datacenters to new WDM equipment to increase bandwidth on these interconnections. The affected dark fibers will be drained gracefully, migrated to the new equipment, and brought back into production in a controlled manner.
Additionally, the PDUs in one of our network racks will be replaced one by one, as the current models have caused issues in other racks in the past. All network equipment is connected to two power feeds. During this electrical work, power redundancy is temporarily not available.
No customer impact is expected at any datacenter, but it cannot be ruled out entirely. A residual risk always remains, which is why we are announcing maintenance work as a precautionary measure on principle. In the unlikely event of impact, we will provide updates via this status post.
